Gamsutl, a ghost village, is one of Dagestan's most recognizable locations. The village was still inhabited in the 1970s, but residents began to leave, moving to larger, more accessible towns and villages. The last resident of Gamsutl passed away in 2015.

There's no road to the village itself; it's an uphill hike of about an hour. However, after a challenging journey, you'll be rewarded with stunning views and the incredible atmosphere of this place. Gamsutl seems to emerge from the cliff face, surrounded by stunning mountain ranges—it's been called the Dagestan Machu Picchu .
