Baikal

The deepest lake and places of power

Baikal is crystal-clear water, contrasting landscapes, and a land of legends. Here you'll find dense taiga, mountain rivers, endless steppes, roaring waterfalls, quiet bays, hot springs, and even luxurious sandy beaches. Whatever your preferred vacation, Baikal has something to offer: from active recreation to tranquil contemplation of natural beauty.

Baikal is a sacred lake. And it's not just the Places of Power, sacred islands, and shamanic traditions of the region that are associated with it. This lake is approximately 25 million years old, while ordinary bodies of water of this type "live" on average 15,000 years. Baikal seems eternal, and this atmosphere of wonder is felt by everyone who visits it. Here you can make your deepest wishes at the Stupa of Enlightenment, see the beach of Peschanaya Bay, where legendary stilt trees with bizarre roots grow, and visit the famous Olkhon Island, the center of northern shamanism. Any season on Baikal is amazing: in summer, you can enjoy the blooming nature, catch the sun's rays, and swim. In winter, travelers come here for the famous Baikal ice—perfectly transparent, with patterns of cracks and bubbles, creating monumental ice sculptures in mysterious grottoes and on high rocky shores.

Places of attraction:

Olkhon Island,
Lake Baikal's largest island, boasts a diverse natural landscape: deciduous and coniferous forests, sheer cliffs of fantastic shapes, quiet bays, and fine-sand beaches. Olkhon also boasts a rich history: the first settlements date back to the Paleolithic era, and for many centuries it was a center of shamanism.

Peschanaya Bay.
These landscapes are among the most recognizable on Lake Baikal: soft, light sand, piercingly blue water, and the cliffs surrounding the bay, adorned with greenery. And, of course, it's here that you can see the legendary stilt trees. Wind and water have exposed their roots, creating a truly fantastic view.

Ogoy and Zamogoy Islands
. Ogoy is a sacred island with a Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment. Humans have never inhabited it, and Ogoy is considered a sacred place. Zamogoy, according to local beliefs, is a "dark" island where lepers once lived. It is less popular with tourists, but it offers a great chance to observe Baikal seals.

the Circum-Baikal Railway
will impress both those interested in engineering achievements and those who want to see the beauty of Lake Baikal in comfort, from the window of a moving train. The route is rightfully recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world: pointed arches of bridges, tunnels through moss-covered rocks, expanses of water, forests, and hills.

The Khamar-Daban
is the main mountain range of the Baikal region. It is visible from many popular locations: its peaks, shrouded in a bluish haze, rise on the horizon and impress with their majesty. The range is nicknamed the "Siberian jungle" for its incredible diversity of flora and fauna, as well as its ruggedness and inaccessibility.

Aya Bay is
a picturesque sandy bay, sheltered from the winds on all sides. It's a great place to visit in both summer and winter: perfect for a relaxing beach holiday in a tranquil atmosphere or for strolling across the crystal-clear ice, surrounded by majestic ice splashes on the surrounding cliffs. Ancient Siberian caves are located nearby.

The Pribaikalsky National Park
is home to thousands of representatives of the amazing Baikal fauna. Most animals trust people and come very close, so when visiting the national park, you'll have the chance to take stunning photos of marals, yaks, chipmunks, and a multitude of birds (there are 303 species here!).
