A journey that will fill you with inspiration and harmony: winding streets of ancient villages, impregnable mountain fortresses, deep gorges, majestic mosques, culinary discoveries, and endless mountain panoramas. The program includes the region's most famous natural sites and landmarks that are crucial to its history.
Dagestan is diverse and beautiful, and it's impossible to encompass all its beauty in a four-day trip. But we've designed this tour to give you the chance to see its most interesting and amazing features. "Caucasian Impromptu" is ideal for a first acquaintance with the region, immersing yourself in its atmosphere and visiting its most famous locations. You'll explore two of Dagestan's most important cities—the contrasting capital Makhachkala and ancient Derbent, with its narrow streets and impressive Naryn-Kala citadel. You'll enjoy a boat ride across the azure waters of the Chirkey Reservoir and visit the Dubki observation deck, which offers the most impressive panorama of the Sulak Canyon. You'll also visit the Nokhyo cave complex and the ekranoplan "Lun," whose appearance among the sands resembles a scene from a Soviet sci-fi film. And, of course, during the trip you will sample delicious local cuisine: shashlik, charcoal-baked trout, khinkali, chudu, and much more.
Everyone has different interests and preferences, so we give you the flexibility to customize your tour. The third day of your trip is free, and you can choose any day excursion to suit your tastes. Visit the high-mountain ghost village of Gamsutl, visit the watchtowers of Goor, stroll through the village of Gunib, known for its unique microclimate, rich history, and pink relict birches, head to the Khunzakh Plateau… Or simply relax on the beach in Derbent!

Your guide will meet you at the airport or train station in Makhachkala. After the group has assembled, we'll immediately head to lunch, allowing you to experience the renowned Caucasian hospitality and delicious Dagestani cuisine from the very first hours of your stay in Dagestan. Then, you'll embark on a sightseeing tour of Makhachkala. We'll soak up the city's remarkable atmosphere, where history and modernity intertwine. You'll take a leisurely stroll along the beach and the Rhodope Boulevard, a favorite meeting place and place for locals to relax. Since Dagestan's culture is closely tied to religion, we'll also visit the city's central mosque, Yusuf Bey Jami. It's one of the largest mosques in Europe and the second largest in Russia, second only to the "Pride of Muslims" mosque in Chechnya. You'll also have the opportunity to admire Makhachkala from above by ascending to the observation deck on Mount Tarki.

We'll leave the capital and explore the beautiful natural beauty of the Land of Mountains (that's how the name "Dagestan" translates). First, we'll visit the largest reservoir in the North Caucasus, the Chirkey Reservoir. It was formed by the construction of a dam, which flooded the village of Stary Chirkey. It still rests peacefully beneath turquoise waters, surrounded by mountain slopes. You can take a speedboat ride around the reservoir (please note: the boat ride is not included in the tour price). Then we'll head to the region's most famous location—the deepest and most stunningly beautiful Sulak Canyon. We'll stop at the best observation deck to admire the meandering Sulak River as it flows along the canyon floor among sheer cliffs. Afterwards, you'll visit the Nokho Cave complex. Those who wish can descend into the adits or try a bungee jump. We'll have lunch at a trout farm today, where you'll enjoy aromatic fish grilled over charcoal. In the afternoon, we'll drive to Derbent, where you'll check into your hotel.

A free day for which you can create your own itinerary. Popular destinations include the Khunzakh Plateau, the legendary ghost village of Gamsutl, the beautiful villages of Gunib and Kakhib, the famous watchtowers of Goora, and the ancient village of Akhty. You can also stay in Derbent to explore our country's oldest city or relax on the beach. Please note: any activities or excursions on this day are not included in the tour price.

On the final day of the tour, you'll see two equally memorable, yet very different, sights in Dagestan. Exploring Derbent with its fairytale-like atmosphere, we'll visit the ancient Naryn-Kala fortress, whose double walls remain perfectly preserved and impressive even centuries after their construction. A stroll through the winding old streets of Derbent will immerse you in the Middle Ages, introducing you to the life and history of this amazing city. You'll also visit the Lun ekranoplan, located on the beach near the town of Kaspiysk. This extraordinary feat of Soviet engineering—a rocket ship shaped like an airplane—appears like a scene from a sci-fi film, surrounded by sand. On the final day of the tour, we'll also visit souvenir shops, where you can purchase gifts and mementos of your trip. We'll arrive in Makhachkala in the evening, and transfer to the airport and train station. See you again!
