The lighthouse was built by the Japanese in 1939.
Since 1990, there were no permanent workers left on it; the lighthouse worked autonomously. But in 2006 it stopped functioning altogether, and since then it has been destroyed by wind and water. You can go inside the lighthouse; from its upper platform there is an incredible view of Sakhalin, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan.
