A unique region where you can walk through lava fields, climb to the top of an active volcano (and even look into its mouth!), relax in open-air thermal springs or walk along the black sand beach along the Pacific coast.
The landscape and nature of Kamchatka are incredibly picturesque: these are mountain ranges and an ocean coast, indented by dozens of rocky bays and capes. Some of the species seem alien, absolutely fantastic. There is also a rich wildlife here: noisy bird colonies and rookeries of sea lions (steller sea lions), foxes, moose, marmots, gophers and, of course, bears. The format of a vacation in Kamchatka can be absolutely anything: you can challenge yourself and go on a long trek or choose helicopter excursions to calmly and easily get to the most interesting locations and see natural beauty from above. In winter, snowboarders and alpine skiers flock to the region to enjoy freeride skiing surrounded by stunning views. Indeed, descending from the top on untouched snow straight to the ocean is the coolest experience! However, even in the summer, lovers of active sports will find something to do in Kamchatka - for example, surfing on Khalaktyrsky beach or sea kayaking in one of the bays.
Avacha Bay
The second largest bay in the world, cutting inland for as much as 24 kilometers! Avacha Bay is worth seeing from different angles: from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, located on its shore, from the water during a boat trip, or from above, climbing a hill.
Valley of Geysers
One of the most recognizable natural attractions of Kamchatka is a very small valley (only about 6 square kilometers), where there are about eighty geysers, mud pots and hot springs. Jets of hot water and steam bursting upward, green slopes and colorful rocks.
Plosky Tolbachik Volcano
If one of your goals for visiting Kamchatka is to see boiling lava, go to the Plosky Tolbachik volcano. This amazing spectacle is relatively safe: during spectacular fissure lava outpourings, you can fly quite close by helicopter.
Russian Bay
A narrow bay, cutting deep into the mainland, surrounded by rocks and lowlands. Its waters are almost always calm and are home to many fish and other marine life, making the bay an excellent place for fishing. At the entrance to the bay there is Cape Kekurny, where dozens of sea lions rest.
Khalaktyrsky Beach
A cosmic landscape: black sand of volcanic origin and the endless expanse of the Pacific Ocean... You should definitely watch the sunset or sunrise here, and you can also go surfing, all year round: even in winter you can come here to conquer the waves.
Mutnovsky Volcano
Shield-shaped active volcano with a height of 2322 meters. Mutnovsky is interesting for the unusual shades of the crater walls. There is a real riot of colors here: blue glaciers, stones yellow with sulfur, cauldrons of red and frighteningly black colors. Here you can see an 80-meter waterfall or look into the ice caves.
Vilyuchinsky Volcano
The volcano is inactive, but nevertheless very interesting. It has an almost perfect cone-shaped shape, distinguishing Vilyuchinsky from other hills and volcanoes. There are hot springs and a beautiful waterfall here. In summer, rocky ridges alternate with non-melting snow, and in winter, the completely snow-white volcano attracts snowboarders and skiers.
