Karelia is rightly called a water region: there are more than 60 thousand lakes and more than 25 thousand rivers, as well as about a hundred large and small waterfalls.
Northern nature is harsh, majestic and at the same time has a special flair of peace and tranquility. Here you can walk through ancient coniferous forests, see steep striped cliffs decorated with emerald green or rusty red moss, visit an abandoned marble quarry and descend into its mysterious caves. In different seasons, Karelia reveals itself in different ways: it has many faces, but is equally beautiful in warm summers, golden autumns, and snowy winters. Karelian nature is not the only reason to visit the region.
Karelia has a rich history and culture, in which the traditions and myths of the indigenous peoples are closely intertwined with Finnish and Russian influences. A fascinating Karelian epic, incredible wooden architecture, eclecticism on the streets of ancient cities, the first Russian resort and much more awaits you on your trip to Karelia. And the local cuisine with an abundance of fish, northern berries, mushrooms and game will not leave any gourmet indifferent.
