Kola Peninsula

End of the Earth, whales and northern lights

The endless expanses of tundra, the snow-capped slopes of the Khibiny, the cold waters of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean, the legendary Teriberka, rocky cliffs, the richest marine world - all this is the Kola Peninsula.

Here you will get acquainted with the amazing world of the Russian Arctic and the harsh northern nature, you will be able to visit one of the TOP 15 most beautiful locations in Russia - the Rybachy Peninsula. On Kola you can get a unique, rare experience and see two miracles of nature up close - majestic whales and the fabulous northern lights, shimmering in the skies with all shades of green and purple. Arctic cuisine with an abundance of fish and seafood - mussels, scallops, crabs - deserves special attention. But tours here are not only about hunting for Aurora, gastronomic paradise and quiet contemplation.
There is a lot of entertainment on the Kola Peninsula: trips on powerful snowmobiles or dog sleds, freeride on a snowboard or alpine skiing, visiting a Sami village and getting to know the life of the indigenous people. And comfortable hotel complexes on the peninsula will allow you to enjoy wild nature without leaving civilization!

Places of attraction

The Rybachy Peninsula
is one of the TOP most beautiful places in our country, the northernmost continental point of Russia. Rocky capes, waterfalls, abandoned military garrisons from the Great Patriotic War and the most stunning sunsets on the edge of the world. Rybachy is beautiful both in the warm season and in winter, when it can be explored on snowmobiles.

Teriberka
A legendary village that gained particular fame after the release of the film “Leviathan”. The local landscapes are harsh, and the atmosphere can be called brutal. Here you can see dragon eggs, a lighthouse and a dark ship graveyard, and the surrounding area is great for hunting for the Northern Lights.

Northern Lights
Flashes of fantastic colors shimmering in the dark sky - an unforgettable sight! The season for Aurora is from August to early April. It appears at latitudes of 67-70°, and it is better to hunt for it away from large populated areas. Therefore, the Kola Peninsula is ideal for meeting the lights.

Whales
In the coastal waters of the Kola you can find a lot of marine life - for example, seals or dolphins. But most visitors to the peninsula are drawn here by the opportunity to meet huge, majestic whales releasing fountains of water into the air. And although no one can guarantee a meeting, you should definitely try your luck!

Lovozero
A picturesque forest lake in the center of the peninsula.

On its bank there is a village of the same name - like the harsh northern Venice, some of the streets of which are the channels of Lovozero. There is excellent fishing, almost untouched nature and mysterious landscapes. Murmansk
When visiting Kola, it is worth leaving time to get acquainted with the nearest large city - Murmansk. It’s like walking down huge steps from the hills to the bay; here you can see the world’s first nuclear icebreaker and more “young”, but incredibly touching sights - the monument to the cat Semyon and the sculpture “Waiting”
