The Putorana Plateau is one of the most inaccessible and mysterious locations in our country.
You can only get here by water or by air; there is no communication and almost no people. Once on the plateau, you will feel like a pioneer and see wild, untouched nature far from civilization.
And this nature is amazing: fjord lakes, sparkling waterfalls, peakless table mountains and deep canyons. A true northern exotic with endless meadows of blueberries and hundreds of species of moss, clean air and the opportunity to observe animals up close, many of which are endemic, that is, they live only on Putorana and nowhere else on the planet. Traveling to this lost land does not necessarily have to involve giving up your usual comfort.
While exploring the plateau, you can return every evening to a premium park hotel, where the chef will introduce you to northern specialties: dishes from game, fish and other gifts of local nature. And during the day you will find entertainment and activity for every taste: hiking of a suitable level of difficulty (from calm, unfunny walks to difficult trekking of discoverers), boat trips, SUP riding, helicopter excursions...
Lake Lama
The main lake of the plateau.
It was formed in a tectonic fault and is distinguished by its enormous depth, which in some shores reaches 200 meters! The surrounding landscapes are mesmerizing: rocky shores and secluded beaches with large pebbles, forests and slopes of low but picturesque mountains.
Irkindinsky waterfall is
a 27-meter waterfall, along with Lake Lama, which has become one of the calling cards of the plateau.
The Irkinda River falls from a rocky ledge, dividing into several branches. The waterfall is beautiful both in the warm season, when it impresses with its noise, foam and rainbows of spray, and in winter, when the streams of water freeze in bizarre shapes. Mount Festivalnaya
The best viewing platform of the Putorana plateau, created by nature itself.
Located at an altitude of 988 meters. Trekking up the mountain will not be easy, but it is worth it: from here the plateau is viewed literally from edge to edge, the panoramic views are mesmerizing and at first sight you will fall in love with this harsh but magically beautiful region.
Lake Kutaramakan
The lake in the west of the plateau is long, but rather narrow (the width does not exceed 2-2.5 km).
This is a fjord lake with rocky shores, indented by narrow and deep gorges. In some places the height of the coast reaches thousands of meters, which creates a unique topography and incredible views. Mount Chaya-Kit
The mountain is located on the shores of Lake Kutaramakan and is interesting for its fauna: Chaya-Kit is home to endemics of the region, animals that are not found anywhere else on the planet.
Observing the slopes of the mountain from afar, you are likely to see the unique Putorana snow sheep and white-tailed eagle. Kandinsky Falls
One of the highest waterfalls on the plateau, its height is 108 meters.
Next to the Kandinsky Falls you can fully feel the power of nature. Because of the roar of the water, sometimes you can’t even hear your own voice! The noise of the elements is sometimes intertwined with the unimaginable roar of basalt blocks coming off and collapsing. Norilsk
Travel to the plateau starts here.
Norilsk is a wonderful northern city with a fascinating history, the world's first city on permafrost. Here you can get to know better the way of life and the peculiarities of life in the harsh conditions of the north, and learn about famous people associated with Norilsk. Dudinka
Another city worth getting to know when visiting Putorana is the capital of Taimyr, Dudinka. It was founded in 1667 and is closely connected with the history of the discoverers and conquerors of Siberia and the Russian Arctic. It is also the main city for indigenous nomadic peoples, where you can personally meet the hereditary reindeer herders.
