About the tour

The remote and virtually untouched Putorana Plateau is a lost world, a land of waterfalls, and the geographic center of Russia. We invite you to experience the wonders of the northern wilderness and discover the wonders of the wild. All this without sacrificing comfort, staying in a luxurious eco-hotel.

What's included in the program?

You'll climb to the best observation decks of Festivalnaya Mountain, walk along the edge of the famous Irkindinsky Waterfall, and marvel at the power of Neralakh Waterfall. Enjoy boat rides on Lake Lama, a helicopter flight, and SUP rides surrounded by serene landscapes. On this journey, you'll discover what a mountain "gendarme" is, why an entire wooden palace shaped like an airplane was built in the wilderness, why enthusiasts hunt for UFOs on the plateau, and how many unique species of moss can be discerned in the colorful, springy patterns beneath your feet.

This is a rich, active, and incredibly beautiful tour for those who aren't afraid to find themselves far from civilization, explore the wilderness, and walk off the beaten path of thousands of tourists, taking barely visible, sometimes completely untrodden, trails. The Putorana Plateau is northern exoticism at its finest. A land accessible only by water or air, with no communications and virtually no people, will reward intrepid travelers with the most vivid experiences of a lifetime. Rainbows in the spray of waterfalls, deep canyons with sheer cliffs, entire fields of delicious northern berries, 25,000 lakes, and peakless mountains—all this is Putorana.

Everyone can choose the pace of their exploration of the plateau: the most active and athletic will embark on more challenging treks and conquer peaks, while the "relax" group will enjoy a more leisurely adventure, making numerous stops for stunning photos and visiting more accessible (but no less beautiful!) observation platforms. And, of course, each group will enjoy a luxurious stay at the park hotel, with all the amenities and delicious northern cuisine from the chef.

You will not only explore the Putorana Plateau but also get to know Norilsk and Dudinka. Experience firsthand what it's like to live in permafrost, meet a family of hereditary reindeer herders, and discover why the arches between houses have railings.

We invite you to join us on our trips to the most remote and picturesque place in Russia!

Tour route

More details about the route

Day 1. First look at the plateau

We'll meet at Norilsk airport. En route to the city, you'll begin exploring this amazing region, and your guide will share a brief history of the area. After breakfast in Norilsk, we'll depart for the plateau by boat. The transfer takes 3.5 hours. We'll arrive at the Neralakh Park Hotel, check into cottages, and have lunch. Afterward, you'll enjoy an easy trek to the best observation deck over Lake Lama, the plateau's central body of water. You'll enjoy incredible panoramic views of the water, secluded pebble beaches, endless dense forests, and rocky shores. During the trek, you'll not only learn about the unique landscapes of Putorana but also test your hiking skills. Based on the results of the first day, we'll divide all travelers into two groups: "sport" for the most active and physically fit, and "relax" for those who prefer a more leisurely pace, lots of photography, and frequent stops to enjoy the views.

Day 2. Festivalnaya Mountain and the Land of Moss

After breakfast, we set off by boat. The transfer to the start of today's trek will take only 30-40 minutes, during which time you'll enjoy the fantastic views of the wild northern nature. We'll arrive at the Kamenny Peninsula between Lakes Lama and Kapchuk. From here, the Relax group will embark on a leisurely trek past two beautiful waterfalls to the best observation deck above Lake Lama, with a magnificent panoramic view of both lakes and Mount Festivalnaya. In this tranquil setting, we'll have lunch (lunch boxes). Afterwards, we'll have time to stroll along the isthmus, home to a multitude of moss species—a diversity unmatched anywhere else on the planet, and many of them endemic. Meanwhile, the Sport group will ascend to the highest point of Mount Festivalnaya.

Day 3. Walk around the lake and free time

We'll relax after two active days. You'll take a boat trip, during which you'll see many iconic locations on the plateau: the wintering site of Nikolai Urvantsev, the discoverer and mapper of Putorana, the UFOlogists' base, and the center of the Putorana Nature Reserve. All this is surrounded by absolutely incredible landscapes and the unique, mysterious charm of northern nature. After lunch at the park hotel, you'll have free time. Choose how to spend it: take a walk around the hotel grounds, go SUPing on Lake Lama, or warm up in a hot banya.

Day 4. Waterfalls and table mountains

Today, you'll experience the most challenging trek yet, rewarded with incredible views. The sport group will ascend 1,100 meters. There are no beaten paths, so you'll feel like true plateau pioneers! The relaxation group will also trek to natural wonders, walk along waterfalls, and see from above a deep canyon and the 22-meter Neralakh Waterfall, forming a roaring, foaming cauldron at its base. Natural power, endless table mountains, cliffs, and forest—no matter which group you're in, you'll fully appreciate the magnificent beauty of the Putorana Plateau. We'll have a picnic in a picturesque spot, take hundreds of incredible photos, and return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 5. House on Lake Lama

Putorana is an uninhabited, wild region. However, lost in this wilderness is a masterpiece of wooden architecture—the First House on the Lama. Today we'll visit this building and learn its history: who built it and why, how it was used throughout history, why the nearby river was named Vitaminka, and how did generals from Latvia end up on the plateau? After returning to the hotel and having lunch, we'll board a boat to Norilsk. It's too early to say goodbye to the plateau—you'll visit it again tomorrow. Check-in at the hotel and dinner will be on your own.

Day 6. Irkindinsky Waterfall and an introduction to Norilsk

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll take a helicopter tour to one of the most picturesque and famous waterfalls on the Putorana Plateau. A wall of water, divided into several branches, plunges 27 meters into the abyss. What makes this waterfall unique is not only its stunning power in any season, but also the opportunity to walk along the very edge, feeling like a character from the film "Territory" (the famous scene was filmed right here). The area around the waterfall is also fascinating, home to the Putorana snow sheep and white-tailed eagle—species found nowhere else on the planet. Armed with binoculars, we'll try to spot them on the slopes of Mount Chaya-Kit.
Upon returning to Norilsk, we'll take a sightseeing tour of this amazing city—the first city built on permafrost.

Day 7. Dudinka: A Story of Brave Discoverers

After breakfast, we'll head to Dudinka, the capital of Taimyr. Founded in 1667, the city was a key stop on the Northern Sea Route and a hub for many polar expeditions. Dudinka boasts a street without a single house, the World Curling Cup was held here, and you can see Zhenya the baby mammoth and read the world's only newspaper published in five languages! Furthermore, Dudinka's history is inextricably linked with the small nomadic peoples of the North. We'll visit a local family, learn about the life of reindeer herders and their traditions, see local artisans at work, and experience traditional crafts.
In the evening, transfer to Norilsk.

At 6:00 AM, transfer to the airport for your morning flight. See you soon!

It is important to know

The Putorana Plateau is a wild, uninhabited area. Safety regulations apply during your stay on the plateau, as well as during boat and helicopter transfers. Your guide will provide you with detailed instructions at the beginning of the tour. Your responsibility is to strictly follow the instructions and strictly adhere to the guide's commands in difficult situations (for example, if the group encounters a bear). The specialists accompanying you have extensive expedition experience, are able to accurately assess the situation, and can ensure your safety, provided you follow their instructions.

There's no mobile service on the plateau, only Wi-Fi (which isn't very stable) on the hotel grounds. All mobile operators work in Norilsk and Dudinka.

Lunches and dinners in the cities (Norilsk, Dudinka) are not included in the tour price. The cost of lunch or dinner per person ranges from 500-600 to 1,500-2,000 rubles.
