Table mountains are unusual mountains with truncated, flat peaks. They are usually very steep, almost vertical. One of the most memorable places with table mountains in Russia is the Putorana Plateau. It was formed by the eruption of a supervolcano over 250 million (!) years ago, and lava is one of the causes of table mountains (although erosion and weathering are the most common).
