The resort is located in the Tarentaise Valley and is part of the popular Paradiski ski area. It consists of four stations at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 meters. The first, Arc 1600, opened in 1968 and boasts unique architecture. The newest and most expensive station is Arc 1950 (opened in 2003), while the most popular is Arc 1800. Thanks to the variety of zones, everyone will find the perfect option, from luxury to cosmopolitan. In addition to the stations listed above, Les Arcs also includes the quiet town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with its truly French charm.

A distinctive feature of Les Arcs is the minimal distances between hotels and ski lifts. Thanks to its well-thought-out layout, the resort is very convenient for skiing.

Trails and slopes

The resort boasts 106 pistes ranging in altitude from 810 to 3,225 meters. Most of the pistes are above 2,000 meters. The slopes offer something for every taste and skill level. For advanced skiers, the Plan des Violettes, Arandelier, and Grand Col pistes on Aiguille Rouge are of interest. This area is also ideal for freeriding. For extreme skiers, we recommend trying the Olympic piste at Arc 2000. If extreme skiing isn't your thing and your skiing skills haven't yet reached a professional level, choose the pistes at Arc 1800 and Arc 2000. The Arc 1800 area also offers excellent blue runs for beginners who are just honing their skills. Overall, there are plenty of easy pistes in any ski area.

It's worth noting that the resort is ideal for snowboarders: it's not called the "European birthplace of snowboarding" for nothing. Numerous wide fields in each zone and three large snow parks make Les Arcs especially attractive to snowboard enthusiasts.

Entertainment: active recreation and attractions

The resort offers plenty of après-ski entertainment: between runs, or if you've tired of snowboarding and skiing (which is hard to imagine given the variety of trails!), you can go snowmobiling or sled dog riding. There's also bowling, laser tag for the whole family, and a wide selection of spas, pools, and saunas. For something more unusual, check out the Igloo Village, located at an altitude of 2,000 meters. All the buildings are constructed of ice and snow: from traditional igloos to a grotto with ice sculptures, a unique restaurant, and a bar. You can even stay overnight in the igloos—the rooms are quite comfortable, and you'll receive a complimentary aperitif, dinner, and breakfast.

For the most vibrant nightlife, bars and discos, we recommend heading to the Arc 2000 or Bourg Saint Maurice area.

Local kitchen

The choice of restaurants and cafes is extensive—not only in atmosphere and menu, but also in average prices. At the resort, you can sample traditional French, authentic Savoyard, and the universally beloved Italian cuisine. There are numerous panoramic restaurants at high altitudes, and dining at these is sure to be one of the highlights of your visit.

How to get there

The nearest airports (120 to 220 km from Les Arcs) are in Chambéry, Grenoble, Geneva, and Lyon. Bourg-Saint-Maurice can be reached by train from many major European capitals (such as Paris, London, and Amsterdam).
