Megève offers excellent pistes, picturesque views, a culinary paradise, and luxury. Guests of the resort can enjoy atmospheric chalets, abundant shopping opportunities, and an exciting après-ski program. Megève is a member of the "Best of the Alps" group, which brings together Europe's most prestigious resorts—the legendary Chamonix, Davos, and St. Moritz also boast membership. Megève is also part of the extensive Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, with over 440 km of pistes. And most of these pistes are accessible from the village!
Trails and slopes
Megève is ideal for beginner skiers, with approximately 80 runs suitable for inexperienced skiers and snowboarders. Importantly, they are separated from the main ski area, so those just learning winter sports don't run into experienced skiers. For intermediate skiers, we recommend the slopes of Le Jaillet and Combloux, which offer plenty of red runs. Experts and extreme sports enthusiasts will appreciate the black runs in the Mont Joly, Mont Joux, Côte 2000, and Rochebrune areas. There are 29 such runs in the resort, so there's plenty to choose from! The Les Mont Blanc d'Or giant slalom run is especially noteworthy: only 220 meters long, but boasts a steep incline and challenging terrain.
Snow parks in Megève are located in the Mont Joux, Le Jaillet, and Combloux areas. Snowboarders will also be interested in the Côte 2000 area with its boardercross run.
Entertainment: active recreation and attractions
Megève offers a wide range of activities, both active and relaxing. You can go snowshoeing along one of the groomed trails, visit the Palais des Sports, which features an ice rink, swimming pool, and climbing wall, go horseback riding, or see the resort from above from a hot air balloon. And if you're looking to unwind after conquering the slopes, head to one of three cinemas, a museum, or an art gallery. Just 10 kilometers from Megève, in the village of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, there's an excellent thermal park.
Megève's architecture is also worthy of mention. The classic Megève chalets, which create the resort's unique character, were designed by architect Henri-Jacques Le Mem in the 1920s. The architect's own Le Corbusier-style home is also of interest to tourists. Furthermore, one can visit a unique ensemble of 14 chapels, known as the "Golgotha of Megève.".
Megève's nightlife is as diverse as its slopes and landscapes: there are nightclubs, bars, and casinos. We recommend checking out the atmospheric jazz club, Jazz Club des Cing.
Family holiday
If you're heading to Megève with your family, the resort will definitely keep your children busy! While parents hit the slopes, you can leave the little ones in one of the kindergartens and mini-clubs. There are also numerous ski schools, including the renowned Ecole du Ski Français and Ecole de Freeride, which accept children ages 4 and up. You can also take your little guests to the local amusement park or Santa Village, a themed "Santa Claus Village.".
Local kitchen
It's no coincidence that Megève is a gastronomic paradise. The resort boasts approximately 90 restaurants, more than ten of which (!) have Michelin stars. Megève rightfully bears the title of the Alpine gastronomic capital.
Here you can experience authentic Savoyard cuisine, renowned for its meat and vegetable dishes, as well as exquisite cheeses. Be sure to try the tartiflette (potato casserole) and cheese fondue. We recommend visiting the Michelin-starred restaurant Les Flocons de Sel, as well as establishments like Le Carousel and L'Alpage, and for a taste of Italian cuisine, try Di Vino.
How to get there
The most convenient way to get to Megève is from Geneva—the two towns are only 80 km apart, with buses and trains running between them. The airports of Chambéry and Lyon are within 200 km of the resort.
