The flowering of maral (which is officially called Rhododendron Ledeboura
) is a magnificent spectacle for which many tourists come to Altai.
It blooms from mid-April to late May, the season may vary depending on weather conditions. To be guaranteed to see the mountain slopes and banks of the Katun in a scattering of soft purple flowers, it is better to go to Altai at the very end of April and beginning of May.
