About the tour

An incredible tour to Cape Dezhnev, the easternmost point of Eurasia, where two continents meet and two oceans merge. You will find boat trips and immersion in the culture and life of the indigenous people - the Chukchi, watching their sea hunting and visiting traditional workshops.

What's included in the program?

This is an adventure for the most courageous travelers who are ready to literally go to the ends of the world, want to see the fascinating northern nature and immerse themselves in a world that is so different from the life we are used to.

After devoting a day to exploring Anadyr, the capital of Chukotka, we will head to the east coast - one of the most remote corners of Russia. The indigenous people live here - the Chukchi, who have maintained their traditional way of life for many generations and regularly go to sea to hunt whales. We will go with them and witness a sea hunt. We will also visit the bone carvers, go out to sea on Chukchi kayaks covered with the skin of sea animals, and visit the ancient settlement of Masik, where a hundred years ago the Chukchi lived in dwellings made of whale bones. But the pearl of this tour, of course, is Cape Dezhnev - the easternmost point of all Eurasia, from which it is only 85 km to the coast of North America. Wild nature, walrus rookeries and bird colonies, water surface and complete unity with the outside world! And after busy and active days, you will have the opportunity to relax at the hot springs in the vicinity of the village of Lavrentiya - the temperature of the local waters, saturated with minerals, never drops below 40°C.

Tour route

More details about the route

You arrive at Yuri Rytkheu Airport, which is located near the village of Ugolnye Kopi. We will meet you at the airport and organize a comfortable transfer to Anadyr (1-1.5 hours). After checking into the hotel and lunch, there will be a short meeting with the guide and the group, during which we will once again discuss the expedition program and answer any questions. The afternoon is free time to relax after a long flight and get ready for adventure!

Day 2. Anadyr: sightseeing tour and national ensemble

Today we will explore the capital of Chukotka. During a guided walking tour, you will see the main attractions of the city - for example, the beautiful main cathedral, built of wood. After lunch we go to visit the Ergyron national ensemble. On the basis of the ensemble, you will be able to get to know the Chukchi-Eskimo culture better, communicate with the leader of the group, and even try your hand at traditional dance and throat singing. At the end of the day we will visit the museum center “Heritage of Chukotka”.

Day 3. The villages of Lavrentia and Lorino

Let's go to the eastern coast of Chukotka! After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport and flight to the village of Lavrentiya, located in the bay of the same name. Here we will have lunch and head to one of the main destinations of this trip - the village of Lorino, which is called the capital of whalers. The transfer will take about an hour and a half; along the way, the harsh but beautiful tundra will spread around us. Lorino is inhabited by the indigenous people of Chukotka and is located on the site of the traditional Eskimo settlement of Nukak. Here you can completely immerse yourself in the life and authentic culture of the Chukchi.

Day 4. Sea hunting and hot springs

Lorino is the center of whaling and fishing, traditional for the indigenous peoples of Chukotka. Therefore, today we will go to sea on boats to see with our own eyes how local residents hunt for the inhabitants of the depths. The walk will take 4-5 hours and will leave an indelible impression: it’s like another life, which for the peoples of Chukotka is a common everyday occurrence. On the way back to Lorino we will stop at hot springs and thermal mineral springs in a picturesque place. Upon your return, a delicious dinner and free time await you.

Day 5. Cape Dezhnev: at the end of the world

After breakfast, we will take boats to the main attraction of the entire tour - Cape Dezhnev, the extreme eastern point of our country and all of Eurasia. The sensations here are absolutely incredible: a wild, harsh land inhabited only by seabirds and walruses, the confluence of two oceans, the meeting of two continents (North America is only 85 km away!). On the way back, weather permitting, we will be able to stop by the village of Uelen. This settlement is interesting not only because it is the easternmost settlement in Russia, but also because of its location on a narrow strip of land, sandwiched between the Chukchi Sea and the Arctic Ocean.

Day 6. Mechigmen Bay, bone carving workshop, Masik

There are never too many boat trips, so today we are going by boat to Mechigmenskaya Bay - a shallow but very picturesque bay, home to many waterfowl, and rare willow trees growing on the rocky shores. Near the bay is the ancient Eskimo settlement of Masik, abandoned more than a century ago, but still attracting brave travelers with the remains of traditional dwellings, the main building materials for which were whale bones and skulls. Also on this day we will visit a bone-carving workshop to get to know another important local craft.

Day 7. Traditional kayaks and hot springs

We continue our immersion in the Chukchi culture. Today we will go out to sea again, but on unusual transport - kayaks covered with the skins of sea animals. Returning to land, we will have a delicious lunch and again go to the Lorinsky hot springs. In the pit with healing water, the temperature is always at least 40 degrees, so even in cool weather here you can relax, rest your soul and body, and even improve your health a little - the water is saturated with minerals and is good for joints, helps with diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Day 8. Return to Anadyr and farewell dinner

After breakfast, transfer from Lorino to the village of Lavrentiya (about an hour and a half). We say goodbye to the eastern coast of Chukotka and fly back to Anadyr. Here after lunch you will have time to walk and, if necessary, buy souvenirs. And in the evening the whole group will have a farewell gala dinner.

Transfer to the airport near the village of Coal Mines after breakfast. See you soon!
