Baikal
Baikal is an unusual, sacred lake. This is a place of power, full of secrets and unexpected discoveries. The landscapes of its coastline are varied and amazing: there are endless forests, fields and steppes, majestic mountains, sandy beaches, bays and shallow bays... The age of the lake is approximately 25 million years. For comparison: on average, such reservoirs live for 15 thousand years, and Baikal... seems eternal. The coasts diverge from each other by 2 centimeters per year, like the continents of Africa and South America.
More than 500 very small, unsuitable for navigation, tributaries flow into Baikal, and only one river, the Angara, flows out of it without stopping. The transparency of the water on Lake Baikal is 40 meters: if you throw a coin into the lake, you can trace its fall in the water all the way.
Baikal and its surroundings are beautiful at any time of the year, and there is always something to do. During the trip you will be able to see the legendary islands of Olkhon and Ogoy, Chivyrkuisky Bay, Peschanaya Bay and other unique territories.

Olkhon Island
This island is considered the largest of the 26 islands of Baikal, its area is 730 square km. The nature of Olkhon is as diverse as the landscapes around the entire huge lake. There are steppes, deciduous and fir forests, steep cliffs, bays and sandy beaches. The island is also famous for its history. People have lived on it since the Paleolithic era, and it is rightfully considered one of the most important centers of northern shamanism.
Peschanaya Bay
Difficult to access, but still one of the most famous attractions of Lake Baikal. A beach with fine, clean sand awaits you, located in a place where the number of sunny days can be compared with the number of sunny days on the Black Sea. The highlight of this location is the stilted trees. Water washes away and wind blows sand out from under trees, so their roots are located on the surface and not in the ground.
Ogoy and Zamogoy Islands
Two islands located next to each other. Despite their proximity, Ogoy and Zamogoy are polar opposites in their energy. Ogoi, with a Buddhist stupa of enlightenment, has been uninhabited throughout its history. This is a place of power with stunning nature. Zamoga is considered by locals to be a dark island due to the fact that leprosy patients used to live here. It is rarely visited, but there is a chance to see Baikal seals (not guaranteed).
Aya Bay
One of the most picturesque bays of Lake Baikal - endless space, unearthly beauty... and a must-see on any trip! These fantastic landscapes will take your breath away: it’s not for nothing that the word “Aya” means “beautiful.” This is a masterpiece created by nature itself and remained untouched for many centuries. A hundred meters north of the bay there are rock paintings-petroglyphs that date back to the 3rd-5th centuries AD.
Circum-Baikal railway
The Railway is a monument of engineering: on a short section of 89 km, 424 engineering structures were erected, including 39 tunnels, 47 stone and 3 iron galleries. In terms of volume, timing, complexity and cost of work, this section had no equal among Russian railways. However, the Circum-Baikal Railway is not only engineering attractions, but also numerous natural monuments.
Snezhnaya River
One of the largest full-flowing tributaries of Baikal with a unique landscape stretching along the banks. The river got its name because of the icy clear water, which does not warm up even in the hottest summer months: it was born under centuries-old snow on the peaks of the Khangarul ridge. You can also find excellent fishing here on the gravel and sandy shore: grayling, lenok, taimen, pike and perch are found here.
Khamar-Daban
Khamar-Daban is a mountain range in the Baikal region. We will see these majestic mountains in the Mamai River gorge. The power and beauty of nature here are amazing: you will see mighty centuries-old cedars, huge boulders cutting through lush moss and thickets of flowering bergenia, alpine meadows of herbs... Your travel program can include trekking along the right bank of the Mamai River to a clearing with a small bay where you can swim .
Tankhoy
The central estate of the Baikal Biosphere Reserve is located in the village of Tankhoi. This reserve is a scientific complex located on a vast territory with a rich infrastructure, with walking routes that lead to the valley of a mountain river running along the gorge of the Khamar-Daban ridge. After visiting Tankhoy, we will be able to walk along the eco-trail of the reserve and learn more about its history, which began in the 60s of the last century.
Tazheran steppes
A unique natural complex that is very easy to miss during an independent trip to Lake Baikal - but not with us! These steppes are notable for their landscape: from sand dunes to relict spruce forests and salt lakes. Here you can also find shamanic shrines, mysterious petroglyphs and caves. Along the steppes along the coast of Lake Baikal there are many beautiful secluded bays.
Pribaikalsky Park
An ideal place to get acquainted with the fauna of Lake Baikal. The park maintains a population of wild animals: specialists care for young animals, treat sick animals and feed cubs left without parents. Animals come very close: this is a great chance to take beautiful shots of deer, wild boar, wild goat, yaks, chipmunks and birds, of which there are 303 species in the park.

Transfer to the hotel takes about 2 hours, during which you won’t be bored. If desired, we can make stops in picturesque places and visit the Taltsy Museum of Wooden Architecture, located in the open air. We will also stop at the observation deck opposite the Shaman Stone, which rises alone in the middle of the source of the Angara River.

We will visit two of the most picturesque Baikal bays: Peschanaya with stilted trees and light sand, as well as Aya Bay framed by hills and rocky cliffs.
While visiting the first bay, we will be able to stop to enjoy the peaceful scenery and warm sun. A real beach holiday awaits you in an exotic place!
We will get to Aya Bay in 2.5 hours on a comfortable speed boat. Here we can also stop at the white marble rock of Saagan-Zaba (if there is no wave). If you wish, you can visit the petroglyphs of the 3rd-5th centuries AD.

We will pass the narrow strait between Olkhon and the mainland, which is called the Small Olkhon Gate.
We will disembark on Ogoy Island and visit the Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment. The snow-white structure, topped with a dome and spire, was erected in 2005 and became one of the most important symbols of Buddhism on Lake Baikal. In addition, Ogoy is a nesting place for hundreds of herring gulls, which fit perfectly into this sacred landscape. We will also stop at the gloomy island of Zamogoj, associated with many dark legends.

You will see calm backwaters in shallow water and mysterious taiga on the coasts, clear icy water and mountains on the horizon. The program for this day can be expanded according to your preferences. If you are a fishing fan, we will definitely organize a hunt for grayling, lenok and taimen from the gravel and sandy shore of Snezhnaya. For those who value hiking in untouched nature, trekking to an eight-meter waterfall, the spray of which draws a rainbow in the air and is comparable to fragments of diamonds falling from a ledge. We will also visit Sobolye Lakes, surrounded by centuries-old taiga. Here you can also organize fishing for black grayling. We will have a picnic on the shore of the lake, preparing fish soup from the freshest fish.

In winter, the gentle slopes in the Mamai River valley attract numerous snowboarders and skiers, and we will go trekking along the right bank. This adventure is not comparable to visiting a zoo: we will be in close proximity to animals in their natural habitat. At the same time, the animals are accustomed to people who take care of them, so we will observe them up close, sometimes literally at arm's length. In the park you can find deer, wild boars, wild goats, yaks, chipmunks and birds.

On ATVs through the taiga
The taiga surrounds Lake Baikal: in some places it retreats, in others it moves close to the shore.
Let's get to know her better! The excursion is led by an experienced instructor, seating is 1-2 people per ATV. No one will return clean from this adventure: we will storm mountain streams, overcome muddy areas and climb to the pass, where we will enjoy an impressive panorama. Leaving our faithful iron horses, we will go on a short trek to the rocky Skriper cliff. It rises about 200 meters above the level of Lake Baikal and is notable for a small cave where traces of ancient man were found.
