Val d'Isere is an amazing combination of Savoyard originality, Alpine hospitality, high-quality service and developed infrastructure. It is located in France, just five kilometers from the border with Italy, which gives the resort a unique flavor. Tourists are attracted by the picturesque landscapes of Val d'Isere and its surroundings, because it is located in close proximity to two national parks - Vanoise (France) and Grande Paradis (Italy). The skiing season is quite long - from November to April, and the Pissaillas glacier is suitable for skiing all year round.
Trails and slopes
Val d'Isere has 10 thousand hectares of skiing area and 300 kilometers of slopes, among which there are different options from blue to black. The height fluctuation is 1550-3540 meters. For experienced skiers and snowboarders who go to the slopes for adrenaline, the Bellevar descent will be of interest - the angle of inclination on it reaches 63 degrees. Moreover, you can get to the top very quickly, literally in a few minutes on a modern funicular. Also in Val d'Isere you can descend from a glacier called Pissaillas (3300 m). We recommend the Col de l'Iseran sector for beginner athletes, and the long Oreiler-Killy or Solaise for guests with an average level of training. There is also a large snowpark and cross-country ski trails with a total length of 44 kilometers. A universal single ski pass operates in all areas of Val d'Isere and the neighboring resort of Tignes.
Entertainment and attractions
The choice of entertainment in Val d'Isere is very large: from an ice skating rink and snowmobile rides to paragliding, mountaineering, and horseback riding in the surrounding area. There are also tennis courts, swimming pools, and fitness rooms. For a more relaxing holiday, the resort offers wonderful SPA, saunas, jacuzzi, cinema, and a master class in traditional baking, for which France is so famous, can be a fun experience for the whole family. Cultural events are regularly held: film and music festivals, literary meetings.
Architecture lovers will also love Val d'Isere. It has the incredible charm of an old Savoyard village: walking along the streets you can see many historical buildings. We recommend visiting the Baroque church, built in the 17th century, and the city museum. And the most enthusiastic can go on an exclusive tour of Baroque monuments, visit a farm or visit the center of traditional Savoyard crafts.
For those who are not limited to daytime entertainment, we recommend checking out some of the most popular local nightclubs - Doudoune and Graal.
Family holiday
Val d'Isere is a great place to introduce younger family members to winter sports. There are about twenty schools in the resort, whose instructors will teach your child to ski or snowboard. In addition, Val d'Isere has a kindergarten, numerous play areas, and a children's club where children aged 3 to 13 years can have fun. The resort is marked with the Family Plus sign - a special French brand for resorts best suited for family holidays.
Local kitchen
The resort has more than forty restaurants and bars to suit every taste. Thanks to the unique location of Val d'Isere, not only Savoyard and French cuisine, but also Italian cuisine are adequately represented here.
How to get there
Geneva and Lyon airports are 180 and 220 km away respectively. From there you can get to Val d'Isere by bus or rented car. And 30 km from the resort is the train station of Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
